Unique experiences in a luxury destination

Empuriabrava: Enjoying one of the most exclusive areas on the Costa Brava

Located in one of the most privileged natural enclaves of the Costa Brava, Empuriabrava is the ideal place to relax and spend a few days on holiday with your partner, friends or family. Located in the heart of the Gulf of Roses and surrounded by the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park, Empuriabrava is the most important residential marina in Europe, with some 24 km of navigable canals.

This town offers a multitude of activities and attractions to enjoy a few days of reconnection with nature thanks to its natural environment of beaches, coastal paths and the natural park. It also has a very interesting gastronomic offer and a historical heritage nearby that you cannot miss.

Beaches of crystalline water in Empuriabrava

During your holidays in Empuriabrava you will be able to enjoy different coves and beaches with crystal-clear water, which are among the best on the Costa Brava. We recommend a day at Almadrava Beach, also known as Canyelles Grosses, with its fine sand and calm, shallow waters. La Rubina Beach, surrounded by dunes and with no buildings nearby, is open to dogs and kitesurfing.

You can also discover the numerous coves that you will find along the coastal path that leads to Port de la Selva. These are obligatory stops for bathing or snorkelling and admiring the natural ecosystem of the Costa Brava.

And if you like unspoilt beaches, a visit to Can Comes Beach is a must, located in the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park itself, with 4 km of sand between dunes and natural lagoons, where you can disconnect and reconnect with nature.

What to do in Empuriabrava?

Empuriabrava is a destination where it is impossible to get bored. If you are travelling with the family, we recommend a fun day out at the Aqua Brava water park.

If you are interested in the culture and historical heritage of the area, just a short distance away is Cadaqués, one of the most charming fishing villages along the coast. The painter Salvador Dalí lived there for most of his life in his house in Portlligat, which is well worth a visit.

For art lovers, the Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes represents a great collection of Romanesque monastic art and the Castell de Peralada where you can visit the Romanesque cloister, the museum and the castle cellar, among others.

Hiking and sports for all levels

The Costa Brava is known for its countless coastal paths that were once used to monitor smuggling and boat traffic. Today, hiking enthusiasts can discover a different perspective of the coastline along these routes, as well as numerous coves that would otherwise be inaccessible.

We recommend a route along the Roses coastal path from the Roses lighthouse to Almadrava beach and from there to Cala Montjoi. Another of our favourites is the coastal path of Port de la Selva, with an easy level of difficulty, which runs for 6km, from the centre of this town to the lighthouse of S'Arenella and passes by a total of 15 different beaches.

The Muga nature trail, a greenway that can be walked or mountain-biked, runs for a total of 40 kilometres along the course of the Muga river, starting at its mouth in Empuriabrava and going all the way to the Santuari de la Muga, passing through Castelló d'Empúries.

And for nature lovers, a visit to the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park allows you to discover a unique natural landscape inhabited by more than 300 species of birds and with numerous hiking routes for all levels.

Interesting and varied gastronomic offerings

As an eminently tourist town, Empuriabrava offers a varied gastronomic offer adapted to all kinds of palates. From the quality seafood of Casa Gallego to the Japanese and Thai cuisine of the Siam Shiki restaurant.

For tapas lovers with a good view, Orange Kiwi offers a selection of dishes and tapas all day long on Empuriabrava's seafront promenade. And Vecchia Milano is a trattoria where you can enjoy authentic Italian recipes since 1998.

A destination for the whole family to enjoy

The climate, beaches and outdoor activities are some of the main attractions that make Empuriabrava an ideal destination to enjoy with children and family. The coastline invites you to practice and enjoy experiences such as sailing, snorkelling and scuba diving. There are different centres offering sailing and windsurfing courses and kayaking and paddle surfing trips, among others.

To let off some adrenaline, there is nothing better than a go-karting session and, for animal lovers, there is an equestrian centre where they offer classes adapted to different levels and ages. If you simply want to enjoy a quieter activity with the family, an afternoon playing mini-golf can be a great idea to have a good time with family or friends.
